General meeting:
June19th held at the home of Ken Sherwood.
Chairman Terry called the meeting to order 21 members were present.
No matters arising from the last meeting.
Treasurer’s report
Nick Potts reported a satisfactory balance
There was no secretary’s report as Mike Watts, who announced his resignation , had left the meeting.
Coupling Editor’s report.
Geoff reminded the meeting that there would NOT be another Coupling until the September issue.
He again appealed for letters, articles, pictures etc and drew attention to the proposed ‘I Built It’ competition.
It was suggested that The Coupling carry a members survey of expectations of membership. Other items for the survey were suggested during the meeting.
The Editor will
put together the survey and issue a Coupling EXTRA!

New Business. .
Chairman outlined his view on the need for a Vice-Chairman.
It was agreed
to the appointment. Phil West agreed to accept the position.
The vacant position of Secretary was discussed. The new secretary should NOT undertake show or symposium management. This should be a separate task.
Geoff Meakin agreed to act as interim secretary until December.
The Coupling will carry an appeal for nominations (volunteers!) and a job description.
John Rowe has agreed to undertake to be the Society’s liaison for the Christmas Train Show.
An Annual
General Meeting of The Society was proposed. It was noted that the Society’s
fiscal year ends September 30th
Chairman Terry raised the topic of a Society modular layout. He said it could provide an interest for ‘off-shore’ members and would provide a centre of attraction at shows.
Comments from members of long standing reminded him that the idea had been tried before and had been abandoned.
The idea will
be included as a topic in the Member’s Survey.
Graham Parsons
has agreed to host a December meeting at his home in Fergus on Saturday
December 11th.
The meeting was adjourned at 1.25pm
