Abbreviated Minutes of the Executive Meeting held 5th January 2010

Executive changes
Tony Ross and Alan Farmer have regretfully relinquished their places on the Executive due to personal reasons.
We are grateful for the service to The Platelayers by Tony over many years in different capacities (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer & Editor.
Our thanks go to Alan for graciously accepting the position of Chairman when he was volunteered for it, by others on the Executive in 2004.
Both Tony and Alan will continue as members of the Society in advisory rôles as Past-Secretary and Past Chair.
Terry Brown was proclaimed the new Chair(man), and Phil West and John Rowe join the Executive as new Members-at-large.
Ken Sherwood had previously withdrawn his offer to stand for the Executive.
All other positions are occupied as before.
Financial
The finances of The Platelayers are sound, largely due to the careful admonition of our Treasurer - Nick Potts.
The Society is quite solvent and further details of pluses and minuses can be obtained from Nick or any member of the Executive.
Toronto Christmas Train Show.
In the opinion of the Executive, our presence at this show was a success. We had some new displays including -
Explanations of scales and gauge,
Live Steam operations,
Model building construction,
A small layout, and
Scratch- and kit-building.
GBTS
Mike Watts gave a complete account of plans for the GBTS 2010.
16 Layouts are expected 7 of which are new. More layouts will doubtless apply at the last minute.
14 Vendors will be attending, with more expected.
As has been previously announced, there will be NO special wagon this show.
Why don't you submit a description of YOUR layout for inclusion on the website?
Website
The hit-counter on the website has been changed. Previously, the hit-counter showed only the number of visits to the website.
It now shows the countries from where those hits originate.
The Coupling
Geoff Howe welcomes any contributions for The Coupling.
Layouts, accounts of loco modifications, kit-building, or anything you think will be informative for other members in the Society:- welcome.
